About Bethany Cater

Bethany Cater, born in Newfoundland in 2008, discovered her passion for poetry at the age of six when she began performing spoken word pieces at the Kiwanis Music Festival. Immersed in literature throughout her childhood, Bethany gradually began exploring her own creative voice. Through rhythm and verse, she discovered a sanctuary, her own castle of sonnets, where expression knew no bounds.

In 2025, she was awarded first place in the junior poetry category of Newfoundland’s prestigious Arts and Letters program for her poem Western Bay. This recognition ignited a deeper passion for writing and marked the beginning of her journey into the literary world.

Bethany's emerging collection, When Words Fall On Deaf Ears, is a poignant anthology of poems written between the ages of 13 and 16. The work explores the quiet struggles of the unheard, using poetry as a powerful vessel to express truth, even in the face of silence.
